Description
On the Uberis Test (MicroMast III. - with esculin), S. uberis grows with or without partial hemolysis and reacts with esculin (splits) - the background of the colonies darkens to a dark brown color on G+ selective agar. (This color change does not occur on blood agar). A hand-held UV lamp can be used to confirm the reaction of S. uberis with esculin - no fluorescent violet light is emitted when the agar surrounding the colony growth is illuminated.
- S. dysgalactiae grows with partial hemolysis without reaction with esculin. When illuminated with UV light, the entire G+ selective agar emits violet fluorescent light.
- S. agalactiae grows with clear complete hemolysis without reaction with esculin. When illuminated with UV light, the entire G+ selective agar emits violet fluorescent light.
Included in the set: MicroMast III., inoculating sterile loop, sterile test tube with lid, disinfecting wipe
